More to Watch for Fans of SYFY

Why fix something that isn‘t broken? If you already have a couple of shows you like, you probably don’t want to check out anything new. But in case you’re curious, here are some recommendations for when you have some free time to kill in between seasons.

The CW is SYFY’s younger, campier sister. Shows like “The Flash” feature a modern-day hero who uses his supernatural speed to save the world day after day. The CW also hosts shows about time travel and people who mysteriously disappear and reappear in their towns. If any of this sounds interesting, go to our guide to watching CW without cable to find out more about watching this network.

Also part of the family, TNT is a bit more mature and less fantastical. “Charmed” for example, is a show about a group of sisters who discover they are witches. You can also find “NCIS” and ride shotgun as special agents investigate only the wildest crimes. And don’t worry, watching TNT without cable is not a crime –– you won’t have Special Agent Gibbs knocking on your door. Check out our guide on how to watch TNT without cable for all the details.

Do I understand this correctly that if I want specific (a la carte) stations or channels such as SYFY, Hallmark, TCM, etc, I HAVE to go thru a ‘carrier’ like Hulu, YouTube live tv, sling tv, etc? I can’t just purchase the monthly prescriptions from each station individually? I have Hulu now but really only want my local stations and a few others like HGTV, SYFY, TCM, NASA, HALLMARK. Thank you in advance for your help. — Gary

    1. Stephen Lovely says:

Hi Gary, thanks for reading! Yes, right now very few channels have their own individual streaming services. You’ll have to deal with some kind of pay TV service for the vast, vast majority of network TV channels.

  2. Emma says:

I activated SYFY and watched hours of showsbut can’t see StarTrek Pichard? Another app?

    1. Mint Condition Mocha says:

Star Trek: Picard is only available from CBS All-access in US/Canada and Amazon Prime for the rest of the world. If you want to see the new Star Trek shows, you may need to pay for the corresponding streaming service.

    2. Tristan says:

CBS All Access for a cost

      1. paulshfink@Gmail.com says:

You can get cheaper thru Amazon Prime. ($6.95 or $5.95 I believe ) Also anyone holding a EBT food card can get full Amazon Prime benefits for $5.95 a month!

  3. Minda says:

I have internet through Spectrum and use an Xbox one to stream Netflix and Amazon Prime. Saw the SYFY app and was wondering if it’s free with Spectrum since Spectrum is mentioned on it.

  4. Klaartje says:

Will these streaming services allow access to SyFy in Australia? We use to have access via a Netflix bundle but that stopped a couple of years ago. Now the only way to access it is through Foxtel cable subscription and installation, which I don’t want, too expensive.

    1. Sheryl says:

Hi, did you ever manage to find a way to watch SyFy in Aus without Foxtel? It IS stupidly expensive, and I loath how 9Now butchers the few shows they sink their hooks into (Episode one of Resident Alien was almost physically painful with all the ridiculous places they stuck ads- like in the middle of someone talking- and ads every two to four minutes as well, it was ridiculous!).

I’d love hulu in Australia, so I could permanently give the finger to Murdoch.
